Premier League winner odds 2021/22

The 2021/22 season is about to begin and we have assessed the chances of the leading contenders in our Premier League winner odds.

Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side lifted the title for the third time in four years after finishing 12 points clear of Manchester United and are the 8/13 favourites to be top of the pile again.

A replacement for Sergio Aguero is yet to be found but City flexed their financial muscles by smashing the British transfer record to sign Jack Grealish from Aston Villa.

Defeat in the Champions League final against Chelsea was a huge disappointment though and the best hope for City’s rivals is that their main focus is on finally conquering Europe.

Liverpool

The Reds’ title defence proved a tame one as injuries and lack of consistency from some of their key players contributed to a third-place finish.

At one stage, the Reds seemed likely to miss out on a Champions League place but eight wins and two draws from their final 10 games saw them over the line on the final day.

Jurgen Klopp’s side, who are 5/1 in the Premier League winner odds, will hope for better luck on the injury front and the return of Virgil van Dijk is a major boost.

Chelsea

The Blues were transformed under Thomas Tuchel after he replaced Frank Lampard, with the German leading the club to a fourth-placed finish.

Although they were beaten in the FA Cup final by Leicester, Chelsea ended the season on a massive high after the 1-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League final.

A world-class striker is the missing piece in the jigsaw but their Premier League winner odds of 5/1 will be cut if a rumoured return for Romelu Lukaku comes off.

Manchester United

Despite being best of the rest last season, United have been priced at 8/1 to win their first Premier League title since 2013.

Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane have been brought in to strengthen the squad in key areas but there is still a sense that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men are flat-track bullies and struggle against the top teams.

If they are to claim the title, they will want to get the better of City in the Manchester derbies. The first is scheduled for November 6 at Old Trafford with the return at the Etihad Stadium on March 5.

Leicester

It was a case of deja vu for Leicester as they missed out on a Champions League place for the second successive season but they lifted the FA Cup for the first time in their history.

Back-to-back defeats to Chelsea and Tottenham saw the Foxes, 33/1 in the Premier League winner odds, pipped to a top-four berth by Liverpool.

Patson Daka looks a good signing from Salzburg and provides strong competition for Kelechi Iheanacho and Jamie Vardy, so a top-four finish looks a realistic prospect.

Tottenham

Spurs have not won the top-flight league title since 1961 and endured a long search for a new manager before finally settling on Nuno Espirito Santo following his decision to leave Wolves.

A seventh-placed finish and another trophyless season seems to have convinced captain Harry Kane his future lies elsewhere which has been the subject of much speculation throughout the summer.

Daniel Levy is determined not to sell his prize asset but whether he does or not, it is a huge headache that Nuno could have done without so early in his reign.

Arsenal

Only Manchester United and Liverpool have won more top-flight titles than Arsenal, who are 66/1 to claim a first triumph since 2004 in the Premier League winner odds.

Under Mikel Arteta, the Gunners finished eighth, a point behind arch rivals Tottenham, after ending the season on a five-game winning streak.

But the north London club missed out on Europe for the first time in 25 years so more rebuilding is required before they can mount a serious challenge. The lack of European football should at least help them in the Premier League.
